The American League won the AAGS U10 all-star game 18-17. There were a total of 24 hits banged out in the 5-inning game, seven for extra bases.
Down 16-12 in the top half of the 5th, The National League battled back thanks to Kimmie Shliff’s (2 for 3 with 4RBIs) two-out bases loaded triple. Jessica Raymundo’s base hit brought Schliff home to tie the score. They took the lead when Ally Bradford’s hard hit ball scored Raymundo. Bradford was stranded to end the inning and that set the stage for the American Leaguers.
Olivia Halterman (2 runs scored, 1 triple) drew a walk, stole second and third and scored on a fielder’s choice by Courtney Johnson. Bridget Butler walked and scored the winning run on Caity Unruh’s base hit.
For the NL, Kaylie Underwood, Ariana Orozco and Jacelyn Sanchez (2 for 3 with 3 RBIs) hit doubles. Jenna Miller drove in 3 with a long double to set up the final inning.
